Baja California kick’s ass! So we peaced out of San Quintin a couple of days ago, and were anxious as hell to get back to Ensenada. There was so much more to do, and the food was amazing. We walked down the road and put the thumbs out hoping for the best. We’re standing there in the sun, off the road, and we were all saying to ourselves, “what if we got picked up and got to chill in the back of a pick up all the way back to Ensenada?” The thing is though, Ensenada was about four hours north, and for it to really happen, was a bit far fetched.
Not ten minutes later, and we get picked up by this bro cruisin’ all the way back to Rosarito beach with his surfboards in the back, and a few friends in the cab. Next thing you know, we’re chillin’ in the back sappin’ some beer’s and driving about 75mph down the road. Talk about an experience,….it was soooo freaking sweet! and exactly what we were looking for. My favorite part was when we had to roll through a military checkpoint, and I have a bottle of Don Julio between my legs, an open beer, Adrian’s drunk sitting with me, and all the guy’s in the cab are drunk with marijuana. Not long though and Adrian is getting a hair cut from the soldier’s while I’m shootin’ the shit with them, laughing uncontrollably, drunk as well, and our buddy driving is wondering where the hell we are, stuck with all our bags.
There is sooo much more to the story, but I’ll keep it brief. We ended up staying at his place right on the beach just outside Rosarito beach, and we were welcomed with so much hospitality. Not only did he let us stay at his pad, but his wife and him cooked up breakfast, and let us use the surfboards with the wetsuits. It was just what we pictured when we entered Mexico, and had been hoping for just this experience. We wanted to chill on the beach, do some surfin’, and just soak up the sun for quite a while. Unfortunately though, we were all hung over, and so tired. The waves weren’t that great either, and it was a short surf session. The sun was amazing though, and the beach was perfect for day dreaming.
This morning we woke up to some huge 12 foot waves, and enjoyed some breakfast on the cliffs. Eventually we left, and our buddy gave us a ride to Rosarito beach, and hooked us up with his bro, and now we’re literally staying in motor home directly on the beach. No electricity, but the fish tacos are within walking distance. It really doesn’t get any better than this. Napping on the beach, cruisin’ the town, and eating delicious Mexican food. How amazing does this sound? Thank you Ross, we owe you big time.
You really can’t buy experience’s like this, nor can you go looking for them.
