Angkor Wat
Cambodia is kickin’ ass. We spent five days in Siem Reap checking out all the temples. I can’t even begin to describe what they were like. It is absolutely amazing, and one of the best things I have ever seen. It really felt like you were in the Congo, jungle growing on the walls, and pieces of stone on the ground everywhere. It’s incredible to think how they constructed these temples so long ago. The little kids are super cute, and very good at selling things to you.
We caught a bus to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia and it’s been sweet staying here for a while. We checked out the museum about the genocide the Khmer Rouge committed in the ‘70’s, and it was horrible. It’s one thing to read about it, or see pictures. But when you go to the killing fields, and there are still teeth and bones on the ground, and scarves still half-way buried from blind-folding them, it makes you want to throw up. It was an all day affair, and it was depressing as hell.
Today we hit up the Vietnamese Consulate to get our visas. $45 and two days later, and we’ll be good to go. But first we’re going to head out to Sihanoukville to kick it on the beach for a few days. Then well head back to the capital here, and take a river boat to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I’m stoked about that. As far as costs, it is ridiculously cheap here. I can enjoy dinner for about $2, and that’s quite a bit of food.
For me, Cambodia is much better than Thailand.
